Unlike traditional tracking / monitoring system for delivery trucks, scooter poses present a different set of challenges. It's relatively simply electrical system and small sizes, a new set of tracking / monitoring system needs to be developed. Besides vehicle tracking system, package location needs to be track as well, and this is why our partner came to ZEBEX to look for solutions.

The Solution
Before contacting ZEBEX, our customers had already designed and develop a scooter tracking device. Besides vehicle location tracking, they are looking for barcode reader to provide a real-time package delivery status as well. Connects via a standard RS-232 connection, ZEBEX Z-1160 fits in perfectly for the job. Light-weight, yet durable, Z-1160 can be conveniently carry by delivery personal. After working closely with our solution provider and customer, special version of firmware is developed, making it possible to establish connection between Z-1160 and scooter mobile tracking system. When delivery is made, the barcode is then scanned using Z-1160, item locations, delivery time and many other information is store instantly onto Z-1160. Once return to his / her delivery vehicle (which is scooter), Z-1160 is connected back to tracking device via RS-232 connection for data upload. Once uploaded, these information can be transmitted back to dispatch center in real-time using GRRS or GSM connection.

The weight and form factor is the key decision criteria for choosing ZEBEX Z-1160. Unlike traditional delivery truck where ample amount storage spaces are presented, scooter does not.
